PowerLaunch is a commercial program distributed through Interealm's I•Start program. It is provided at no charge to the user for evaluation. You are encouraged to copy and distribute "UNACTIVATED" copies of PowerLaunch for non-commercial use with the following restrictions:
• You may only copy and distribute the self-extracting PowerLaunch archival package file but not the individual application, document files, preference files, or activation keys.
• You may not modify the PowerLaunch package file in any way.
• You may not charge any fee for the use, copying, or distribution of the product.
• Clubs and user groups may, however, charge a nominal fee (not to exceed $10) for expenses while distributing PowerLaunch. All other organizations must obtain written permission to distribute copies of PowerLaunch if any fee is charged for the use, copying, or distribution of the product.
••• What Is I•Start? •••
I•Start is a method of commercial software distribution, created by Interealm, which offers computer users a convenient way to shop and, at the same time, try software before purchasing it. You may evaluate an I•Start product for a period of thirty (30) days from the day of installation. After such time, you must either purchase an activation key for the product, or remove the product from your system.
To purchase an I•Start activation key, follow these steps :
1. Print out the "Order Form" provided with this I•Start product.
2. Fill out the appropriate information and mark the products you wish to order.
3. Send your order form into Interealm. (Information on sending in this form can be found at the bottom of the order form.)
When you receive your activation key, please be sure to keep a record of your activation key(s) for future upgrades.
Copyright laws apply to both I•Start and commercial software, and the copyright holder retains all rights with a few specific exceptions as stated below. Interealm grants the right to copy and distribute I•Start, either to all and sundry or to a specific group. Commercial distribution of I•Start software is strictly prohibited, unless specific, written authorization is given by Interealm. I•Start activation codes are registered to a specific user and are not to be disclosed or distributed under any circumstances.
••• What is the I•Start "Power Upgrade?" •••
Users of Square One 1.0-2.X, On Cue II, or At Ease 1.0 can upgrade to the latest version of PowerLauch II for $10.00 off of the usual activation key price. Simply mail in your original program diskette with your PowerLaunch II Order Form.
Is PowerLaunch worth upgrading to? Don't ask us, ask our end users. Thousands of people have happily upgraded to PowerLaunch II. Here is what some of them had to say :
"PowerLauch makes Square One seem anemic in comparison. After all the INIT conflicts I've had with Square One, PowerLaunch is a breath of fresh air. Please take my Square One disk as proof of purchase. (You may trample upon if you wish.) -- Mark B.
"At Ease is to cutsie for my taste. I want gut-wrenching, and yet elegant , POWER on my Mac's desktop!" -- Jeremy C.
"[PowerLaunch II] is a great program. After using it, I can't remember how I used to work without it." -- David M.
••• Registration / Activation •••
If you find this I•Start product useful and wish to continue using it beyond the 30 day free trial period, you are required to activate your copy.
Paying a one-time, activation fee will license one copy of the I•Start product for use on any one computer at any one time. For example, one copy may be used by any number of people and may be freely moved from one computer to another as long as there is no possibility of it being used simultaneously on more than one machine.
••• Site Licensing •••
Site licenses are available to permit the use of PowerLaunch II within companies or government agencies. A site license allows internal use and copying for a specified number of computers.
The fee for a site license is generally $20 for each computer covered. The minimum license fee is $200 which includes licensing for the first 10 computers. Additional discounts may be negotiated if a large number of machines is licensed. Colorado companies must add applicable sales tax.
To request a site license, send a letter specifying your organization’s name and address—as they should appear on the site license contract—and indicate the number of computers you wish to have covered by the license. You will receive two copies of the site license which must be signed and returned with payment of the site license fee. An authorized copy of the site license will be mailed to you along with a registration code to be used on all the machines you have licensed.
••• Program Updates •••
Registered users of I•Start products are entitled to use future versions of the same product without paying any additional licensing fee. In general, users will not be notified directly of new releases, so it is a good idea to check electronic bulletin boards, users groups or magazines for announcements of new versions.
Typically, new releases are available on most of the national information services (America On Line, AppleLink, CompuServe, GEnie and Internet archive sites). If you have a modem, this is usually the simplest and least expensive way to obtain updates.
If you do not have a modem, check with your local Macintosh users group. Many users groups distribute disks containing the latest version of the PowerLaunch software for a small fee.
